Fishing basics, verified scale progression and completion goals without inventing unverified per-fish locations.

What fish give you

Fishing in Lou’s Lagoon is a crafting system as much as a collection system. Fish yield scales, and retail tips report 12 scale types across the archipelago. Your Fishing Rod level changes which types you can catch.

With a level-1 rod, retail tips specifically identify Copper, Bronze and Silver scales. They also describe visual cues for the fish: copper fish are orange with blue markings, bronze fish are pale orange with red stripes, and silver fish are dark blue with an orange fin.

Basic fishing flow

Cast from island shores, use the prompted input to wiggle the float and attract the fish you want, then counter the fish’s movement during the catch. Different locations and times of day can produce different types, so do not assume one shoreline contains everything.

Completion goal

The achievement Tipping the Scales asks you to catch every type of fish scale at least once. This guide therefore tracks verified scale types separately from speculative “all fish locations.”

Upgrade advice

If you keep seeing fish you cannot turn into a new scale type, upgrade the Fishing Rod before spending hours changing beaches. The Lexicom is also reported to show scale-location information, so use it alongside this checklist.
